Shake the Dust Project supports Camp Brave Heart.

  Activities Galore

Swimming, hiking, campfires, hayrides, singalongs, crafts and a low-level ropes course are just a few of the activities campers will enjoy.

  A Camp With Heart

Hospice Austin's Camp Brave Heart brings together the fun of a recreational camp with grief support for kids ages 6 through 17 who have experienced the loss of a loved one due to death. In a few days packed with creative activities, campers are encouraged in their exploration of emotional, behavioral and physical adjustments to the loss.

  Exploring Feelings Together

Typically, kids who are grieving experience a sense of isolation as they struggle with profound and often confusing feelings. At Camp Brave Heart, campers discover that being with others their own age who have had similar experiences is a comfortable setting for exploring feelings. The camp is designed to be an intermingling of both fun and feelings. The health and emotional safety of campers is paramount and campers may participate in activities at their own levels of comfort. Counselors experienced in child and adolescent grief support lead discussions and exercises.
