About Except for Six In 2007 a group of passionate Hospice of Michigan volunteers embarked on an effort to change the way people think about end-of-life care. Led by Cecile Fehsenfeld and Rich MacKeigan of the Hospice of Michigan Foundation Board, the group hired Michigan filmmaker Matthew Burnell. The result is Except for Six, an extraordinary window into the lives of three hospice patients and their families. This film has been aired on Detroit Public Television, WGVU and other PBS stations across the state of Michigan, and is being distributed to other Hospice organizations across the country to further advance the Hospice movement. "This is a heartfelt and important film that takes a subject most of us would rather ignore and humanizes it. From the dedicated doctors and caregivers to the heroic patients, this is the moving story of what will happen to all of us."     Ken Burns, America’s preeminent documentary filmmaker   14th Annual Austin Settings Fundraiser April 21 & 22, 2010 Austin Country Club   This year's annual Austin Settings Fundraiser benefited Hospice Austin.  This is the 14th year for the event which features elaborately designed and decorated tables by Austin’s most talented designers, creative florists and premier boutiques.  The two-day event is held at Austin Country Club and sponsored by Kappa Kappa Gamma Austin Alumnae Association.     Big Hearts for Brave Hearts Brunch at the Park April 10, 2010 11am - 2pm Union Park Saturday morning early-risers joined us at Union Park, 612 West 6th Street, for a brunch and mimosa buffet. A portion of the food and alcohol proceeds will benefit Hospice Austin's Camp Brave Heart. Young professionals in their early 20s to late 40s are encouraged to join and make a difference.
